Aloha, Friend.
I am so deeply grateful to have been entrusted with the great responsibility of serving our Hawai‘i in the upcoming 119th Congress (2025-2027). I want you to know that I will continue to devote my very best efforts to representing our beloved home and all of you and yours on Capitol Hill.
Today, Election Day-plus-one, there is much we know and much we don’t. We of course know that President Trump will return to the Presidency. This was not the choice of a majority of our Hawai‘i, but our country has made its decision in a fair democratic election and we must all move forward to our next chapters.
In Congress, we know that a Republican majority is returning to the Senate, but we do not know the House results and likely won’t for a few days yet. While that will impact the directions we take and my own responsibilities and efforts, it does not change the challenges and opportunities of our times throughout our country and world. It does not change my duty to find solutions wherever and however I can and to serve as a check and balance where I must. It does not change my mission to help lead our country, help our Hawai‘i and help you and yours.
Today we also woke up to the same deeply divided and polarized country as yesterday. Whether our candidates won or lost, whether we feel great fear or great hope or everything in between, we are all still fellow citizens of a truly great country, one with foundations and promise envied everywhere, one which has every ability to address our challenges and continue to lead our world. Each of us bears our own responsibility for helping us all heal and advance together as best we can.
While we work through this uncertainty, we must continue with the day-to-day business of our country. This starts with completing the current 118th Congress (which runs until January 3, 2025) and President Biden’s current term (which runs until January 20th). Our unfinished business for this period includes our current fiscal year federal funding measures, in which I continue to be involved as a member of our U.S. House Committee on Appropriations. First up when I return to Congress next week is additional disaster relief funding to continue to assist Maui and other hard-hit parts of our country.
I will continue to rely on you for your guidance and to pursue every opportunity to let you know what I’m doing on Capitol Hill, to answer your questions, and to listen to and act on your concerns. The best ways into my office and activities remain my website at case.house.gov, my email at ed.case@mail.house.gov, or my Honolulu office at (808) 650-6688.
Warm aloha.
