Aloha!

Subject: August 17th Honolulu Talk Story with
Congressman Ed Case on Federal Funding/Support

Amidst the ongoing national debate on Capitol Hill over the critical issues and decisions facing our country, two other parts of my job are constants.

The first is assisting you and yours with your individual questions and needs. This could range from assistance with veterans, Social Security or other benefits, to hosting you in Washington, D.C., to pretty much any other area I might help. Please check out our services at https://case.house.gov, and then contact me at ed.case@mail.house.gov or (808) 650-6688.

The second is the "bread and butter" of any good Congressional office: making sure that our federal government is helping our Hawai'i, whenever and however it can. This includes federal funding, which accounts for some 20% of all state and county government revenues, along with support for many other programs, and other federal assistance.

My service on the U.S. House Committee on Appropriations, responsible for directing more than $1.3 trillion in federal spending annually, is key to this part of my job. But there is much that my office and I can also do beyond appropriations, including assisting our governments, organizations, non-profits and individuals with federal grant applications, and other areas of potential federal support.

In my experience, though, these programs and opportunities are not widely known, and we are not taking full advantage of the possibilities. To bring them back home, I am hosting a Federal Funding/Support Talk Story during my August District Work Period. Here are the details:

Talk Story with Congressman Ed Case on Federal Funding/Support
Saturday, August 17, 2019
9:00 AM to 11:00 AM
Hawai'i State Capitol, Basement Auditorium
Refreshments served
Parking available in Capitol (access off Punchbowl Street, across Queen's Hospital) or at Ali'i Place (1099 Alakea Street)

I'll outline the federal appropriations and grant process, and have resources available for your additional information and use. You are especially welcome if you and your organization are now receiving federal support, or would like to consider it, or are just interested in how it all works. I'll talk story about what's up overall in D.C., and would welcome you joining us.

I hope to see you on August 17th. If you can't make it, there's more information on federal grants at https//case.house.gov or else please call my Honolulu office at (808) 650-6688 with any questions or needs on this or any other matter.

P.S. I'll be doing five more general district-wide Talk Story with Congressman Ed Case events in early October - in Hawai'i Kai, Mō'ili'ili, Pearl City, Mililani, and Kapolei. Details to come.

Mahalo nui loa, Ed Case
