Aloha, Friend:
June is one of the busiest months of my Congressional year, and this June is no different.
Packed June. My Appropriations Committee is in full swing, molding twelve separate measures that together will fund our federal government for the upcoming fiscal year. There are a ton of visitors from home to welcome to Capitol Hill and discuss important issues with. The full House is busy with debates and votes as time shortens to the usual August district work period. My ongoing work in DC and Honolulu offices of helping lead our country, helping our Hawai‘i, and responding to and helping you and yours also steps up.
Mid-Year, Veterans, Kūpuna Reports. As this June approached, I mailed my Mid-Year Report districtwide summarizing my activities and asking for your continued guidance; here’s a link. This followed on my earlier special Veterans Report here and Kūpuna Report here. (I also celebrated UH’s great national men’s volleyball championship with an official resolution Rep. Tokuda and I introduced in the U.S. House; see it here.)

June 1st Tele-Talk Story. On June 1st I hosted my seventh live districtwide Talk Story community meeting of 2026, this one a virtual Tele-Talk Story from my Honolulu office (following my first six in-person throughout my district). I reported on my priorities – the unacceptably high cost of living, the Trump administration, and my Appropriations Committee work – addressed many other issues, and answered a bunch of your questions. See the replay: here.
Appropriations Successes. On returning to DC I crunched right into Appropriations again, where we completed our eighth and ninth of twelve measures for upcoming Fiscal Year 2027. Although I had to oppose most of these measures because of serious policy disagreements with the administration and current Congressional majority, I secured many solid successes for our Hawai‘i. These included:
- $28 million for the Native Hawaiian Housing Loan Guarantee Fund
- $16.7 million for the East-West Center at UH;
- $4.6 million for Japanese Confinement Site Grants including Honouliuli;
- $27 million for Women’s Business Centers including the Patsy T. Mink Center for Business and Leadership;
- $762.5 million for Community Oriented Policing including the Honolulu Police Department;
- $33.5 million for Coral Reef Conservation led in Hawai‘i;
- $108 million for the American Battle Monuments Commission including Punchbowl; and
- Community Project Funding (CPF) totaling $9.1 million for twelve more worthy community projects throughout my district (to go with the 54 CPFs for $307 million I secured in prior years; see it here).

Cost of Living #1. I continue my full focus on real solutions to our cost of living. Here is a summary of my specific efforts to address specific cost drivers from shipping and tariffs to housing, health, gas, food and more at the federal level.
Trump Administration. I continue to work with this administration where I can, but to oppose it where I must across a whole range of issues, through my legislation, votes, statements, committee work, joint efforts with my colleagues and in court.
This week I cast two of my most important votes this Congress:
- Yes on the Iran War resolution to require the withdrawal of US troops from hostilities (except to defend against imminent attack) unless and until authorized by Congress (passed on a bipartisan vote of 215-208) (link); and,
- Yes on a measure (link) to override the President’s obstruction of further aid to Ukraine and of increased sanctions on Russia (passed on a bipartisan vote of 226-195).
Here is a 246-page summary of my actions taken in opposition to the Trump administration: (link).
What I’m Doing About . . . A common question I’m asked is what am I doing about a specific issue. I’ve prepared full summaries (in addition to the ones discussed above on the cost of living and the Trump administration) of my activities in Congress on some of the issues that most concern us. Please click on the ones where you want to know what I’ve done and am doing:
I welcome your questions and comments on these or any other issues. There is much more on my activities at case.house.gov.
Large Communications Blackout Period/Sign Up To Keep Receiving E-Newsletters. Tomorrow, Tuesday, June 9th, marks 60 days until Hawaii’s August 8th primary election. Under Congressional rules, this is the “blackout period” during which Members cannot do largescale communications, like this e-newsletter and larger mailings. (We can, and I will, continue all other normal activities like responding to constituent communications, social media, answering calls, individual constituent assistance and other services, as well as my other work.) However, if you sign up to receive my e-newsletter here, I can still send you my reports during the blackout; please do so we can stay in touch.
Again, please go to case.house.gov for much more. As always, I am grateful for your guidance and welcome your questions, suggestions and needs at ed.case@mail.house.gov or (808) 650-6688.
