(Washington, DC) – U.S. Representative Ed Case (Hawai‘i – District 1) today asked Secretary of the Army Daniel P. Driscoll to explain the apparent deletion of Army websites recognizing the Nisei veterans of World War II, awarded the Congressional Gold Medal, and other Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander servicemembers. “Erasing history one website at a time is no different than the tragic practices of the authoritarian regimes throughout history that so many of our own have sacrificed to oppose,” said Case. “It not only diminishes public access to crucial historical information but also risks erasing the sacrifices and contributions of these American heroes from the digital archive of our nation’s military legacy.” Attachment: Letter to Army Secretary Daniel P.
