Case Announces Winners of Congressional Art CompetitionDistrict event held May 4 in Honolulu

(Honolulu, HI) – U.S. Congressman Ed Case (Hawai‘i – District 1) announced on May 4 the winners of the Hawai‘i District 1 2019 Congressional Art Competition at a downtown Honolulu gallery showcasing the works of young artists. “Each Spring since 1982, the Congressional Institute has sponsored a nationwide high school visual arts competition to recognize and encourage artistic talents in each Congressional district across our country,” said Case. “The artwork entered this year from the students in my district was truly impressive and would make any parent, teacher and artist proud.” First place Clara Wu Kalani High School Image entitled “Bubblegum Chums” She and a guest will receive a round-trip airfare for two on Southwest Airlines to attend the National Awards Ceremony in Washington, DC, among other prizes. Her image representing Hawai‘i’s 1st Congressional District will also be displayed at the U.S. Capitol for one year, along with those of the winners in other Congressional districts. Second Place Cedrick Marques Pineda Asuncion Farrington High School Image entitled “The Hidden Reflection” His image will be displayed in the Washington, DC, Office of Congressman Case, among other prizes Third Place Jada Inouye Hawai‘i Baptist Academy Her image will be displayed in the District Office of Congressman Case in downtown Honolulu, among other prizes.“I want to especially thank the panel of judges who reviewed the works and made some tough decisions: Byron Tagupa, owner of HI Finest, Duane Tanaka, owner of Popcorn Express Hawai‘i, and artist Ms. Su-Shen Atta.” ### |
