(HONOLULU, HI) -- U.S. Representative Ed Case (Hawai‘i -First District) will host another of his series of Talk Story community meetings, this one focused on veterans, on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023 in Honolulu.

“As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, responsible for all federal discretionary funding including programs and services for our nation’s veterans, I look forward to the opportunity to share my work in our nation’s capitol in Washington, DC, as well as to hear directly any concerns or issues from our veterans, who number around 112,000 in Hawai‘i,” said Case.

Case’s Veterans Talk Story will be held:

1.       Saturday, November 4, 2023

2.       9 AM to 10:30 AM

3.       Ke'ehi Lagoon Memorial

4.       Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Memorial Hall
          2685 North Nimitz Highway

Case will share with veterans the House-passed version of the  appropriations measure for the Department of Veterans Affairs which allocated almost $300 billion for the agency. This is in addition to the $20 billion Congress included for the Cost of War Toxic Exposure Fund under the Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics Act of 2022 (PACT Act), the law that expands health care and benefits for veterans exposed to Agent Orange, burns pits and other toxic substances.

Other topics to be discussed will include addressing veterans mental health and suicide prevention, and Case’s work on advocating for Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander veterans.

There will also be an update on two facilities under construction in West Oahu that are nearing completion – the Daniel K. Akaka Clinic in Kalaeloa and the Daniel K. Akaka Veterans Home in Kapolei.

Finally, Case and his staff will be available to address individual veteran concerns and need such as VA benefits.

Case recently shared his work on behalf of veterans in a mailer here.

This is another in a series of Talk Stories that Case has held this year, the last of which was a series of six in April in communities throughout his Urban Honolulu district.  Another series of Talk Stories is scheduled for the first week of January 2024.
